Blissful Baby Infant Massage Group

Infant massage has been an integral piece of Pilar’s postpartum care for the MotherBaby dyad. It is found traditionally among many indigenous peoples and in classical Ayurvedic postpartum care. Learning how to touch and soothe your little one allows you to bond in a deep way. By slowing down, taking to time to set up the space and learn to listen and observe with all of your senses to all of your baby’s cues you become quite attuned.

Infant massage has so many benefits for baby. It’s soothing to the developing nervous system, it supports sleep and digestion. It’s calming when overstimulated. A healthy nervous system is supported through a warm environment, gentle touching, eye contact while speaking softly or singing. In Ayurveda infant massage is considered the “finishing touch”. Newborns and babies nervous systems are growing and developing, so are extra available for all input.

The oil we use is soothing and nourishing to the skin, it also acts as a protective layer. Oils infused with herbs like calendula, chamomile, rose and lavender are safe and soothing to the skin, mind and heart.

Pilar offers this class several times throughout the year to a small group of parents and their babies to support the life long connection, communication and healing that gentle massage can offer.

For our group class we move on baby’s time. The small group setting allows for individual attention, helping you lean how to support your baby in receiving soothing gentle touch. All that you need is provided as well as nourishing herbal infusions, teas and snacks. You will leave with your own bottle of our small batch organic herbal infused baby oil.
